Plans in place to clear export cargo pile-up

Mumbai: Contingency plans have been put in place to clear the export cargo consignments that have been piling up at the Mumbai airport in the last 48 hours.

The export crisis began on Sunday evening after the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) revoked the licence it had granted to a private company to carry out the security screening of cargo consignments that are exported abroad on board passenger flights operated by foreign carriers.

Global Airport and Ground Services Ltd, the said company whose licence was revoked has moved the Bombay high court challenging the BCAS decision.
