State awaits AAI's response to 1.75 crore pending payment

Kolhapur:  District guardian minister Chandrakant Patil on Saturday said the state government is awaiting the Airports Authority of India's (AAI) response over pending payment of Rs 1.75 crore required for afforestation of alternate land of the forest department, which is willing to hand over around 10-hectare plot for the Kolhapur airport's expansion.

The forest officials have already approved the alternate land selected by the state government, but the AAI is yet to take a call on the issue.

Kolhapur MP Dhananjay Mahadik raised the issue again during the meeting of District Planning and Development Council (DPDC). Many MLAs, senior officials of the district collectorate, Zilla Parishad, Kolhapur Municipal Corporation and municipal councils were present at the meeting, which was headed by Patil.
