Sword of eviction hangs on 20 villages

Jaipur: The sword of eviction hangs on 20 villages near Shivdaspura area after the state government directed the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to prepare a proposal to acquire land for constructing greenfield airport.

For the project, the JDA has to acquire 2,100.80-hectare land in 20 villages, and it has already received in-principle approval from the state government. An official said, "Recently, the JDA had sought permission for acquiring 4,651-bigha land in eight villages. After that, a joint inspection was carried out by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and JDA officials."

The official further said the AAI has requested the state government to provide land for constructing 2.5 km X 6 km runway which will run from east to west. Seeing the requirement, the JDA has prepared a khasra plan. "The state government has given in-principle approval to the proposal sent on May 19. Also, the JDA has been asked to submit a proposal for land acquisition," said the official.

It has also been learnt that the JDA has already prepared a proposal for acquiring land and it will be soon sent to the state government for final nod.
