'Third eye' to aid security apparatus in Mysore Airport

Mysuru: 41 CCTV cameras installed; manual policing to be bolstered with technology
The security at Mysore Airport in Mandakalli on Mysuru-Nanjangud Road has been upgraded with the resumption of commercial flight operations on the Mysuru-Bengaluru route on Thursday.

The recently commissioned 41 closed circuit TV (CCTV) cameras will help in manning the security with airports in general coming under high security zones.

“One month ago, the CCTV cameras were put to use after the works on installing the surveillance cameras were completed. The Airports Authority of India (AII) had taken up the work in September last that was completed recently. The work was taken up simultaneously along with several other airports in the country, spending several crores of rupees,” an official told Deccan Herald.

Explaining about the functioning of the cameras, the official said, beginning from the main gate to apron area, including lounge, ATC, the terminal building, parking area among other areas within the precincts of the airport, the cameras are helping the Airport Police Security Unit (APSU) in keeping a vigil.
