TN to set up Aerospace Park in Sriperumbudur

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government on Friday announced that it would setup an Aerospace Park in the auto hub of Sriperumbudur in which 30 aerospace firms would set up units with a total investment of Rs 3,000 crore.

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), which has been entrusted with that task of establishing the Aerospace Park, said that it is expected to provide job opportunities for 5,000 people, and would support the development of the aerospace industry, covering design, engineering, manufacturing, servicing and maintenance of aircraft in Tamil Nadu.

Industries Minister P Thangamani, who is also in-charge of TIDCO, said the government has issued orders for allocating about 300 acres of land at Sriperumbudur.

   According to him, the land was acquired by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) to develop an exclusive aerospace components’ manufacturing park project.
