AAI seeks CAG audit of Delhi airport JV partners after sharp drop in revenue

New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India has asked the Comptroller and Auditor General to audit all the joint venture partners of the Delhi International Airport (Pvt) Ltd after it found a sharp fall in its revenue.

The Delhi International Airport (Pvt) Ltd (DIAL) has, however, refused to allow the federal auditor to inspect its accounts and that of its joint venture (JV) partners stating that CAG has no authority to inspect its accounts or audit its finances.

A DIAL spokesperson told TOI: "Projects developed under PPP do not come under the purview of CAG." There are at least 11 non-core activities at the Delhi international airport which have been outsourced to JV partners.

DIAL is run by the GMR group which has a majority stake of 74% while the Airports Authority of India (AAI), under the ministry of civil aviation, has a 26% holding. The AAI with its current equity is entitled to a 46% share in the revenue of DIAL.
