Air fares to Goa fly high on Dussehra weekend rush

Panaji: Air fares for the Dussehra weekend over a fortnight away have already begun spiralling. While it will cost nearly double the regular fare for October to fly into Goa from the metros, on the Sunday following the Hindu festival, it will cost over three times to fly out of Goa.

Dussehra falls on a Thursday, October 22, this year and one day of leave can offer employees an extended weekend of four days up to Sunday.

Flyers cannot hope to purchase a ticket at a lower price on the eve of Dussehra, as on October 21 too airlines have hiked prices.

An air ticket to Delhi can be bought for 3,990 on other days in October, but on October 22, it will cost a minimum of 7,551. To fly back home on October 25, the Delhiite will pay a minimum of 10,960.
