Boost Amritsar's air connectivity, demands CPS

Amritsar: Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu recently met Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, seeking resumption of the Amritsar-Birmingham-Toronto flight and launch of a new flight for the Australia sector.
As per a release issued by Sidhu’s office here today, the minister assured her of looking into the feasibility of resuming the Amritsar-Birmingham-Canada flight and exploring the prospect of starting the Amritsar-Singapore-Australia flight. “This will come as a major boost for Punjab and will give immense benefit to the people of this region as the area has a huge number of NRIs and devotees keen to pay obeisance at the holiest Sikh shrine — the Golden Temple.”
CPS Sidhu’s husband Navjot Singh Sidhu had also been quite vocal on the issue during his stint as Member of Parliament from Amritsar and had strongly advocated the need to have good national and international air connectivity for Shri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport, Amritsar.
