Salem: Tamil Nadu Consumer and Public Rights Vigilance Committee wanted steps be taken to make the airport at Kamalapuram on the outskirts of the city be made operational at the earliest.
A meeting was held under the committee chairman S. Selvam here on Monday.
One of the main resolution said that the Central government had spent crores of rupees for establishing the airport in Salem. But the airport is not in operation for many years now.
Hence, the resolution urged the Central Government to take swift action to re-open the airport.
Another resolution urged the railways to extend the Chennai Egmore – Salem Express up to Namakkal.
