Missing schizophreniac woman lived in airport for eight days

Bangalore: When 24-year-old Namrata Roy went suddenly missing on October 19, her panicked husband searched the city high and low, even flying out to their hometown of Kolkata in the hope of finding her.

Having flown out of and back in to Kempegowda International Airport, it was tragic indeed that the techie never noticed his wife there too; only, she hadn't flown anywhere - she had been living in the airport waiting lounge for over eight days, consuming pan parag as food! She was finally found on October 26 when some NGO workers found her wandering around the airport and brought her to the office of the city police commissioner.

A native of Kolkata, Namrata is a B Tech graduate who married software engineer Sourav barely two years ago. The couple reside in HSR Layout, and Namrata had recently quit her job. What's little known, however, is that this bright young woman suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.

When the police checked the missing persons database, they found a case with her name and photograph that had been filed based on a report in HSR Layout police station on October 19. Subsequently, her husband was informed that his wife had been traced, and she soon divulged details of her 'extended stay' at a supposedly secure international airport for eight whole days.
