Paragliding World Cup - a showpiece set to grace Indian skies

Paragliding isn't a sport that grabs a lot of attention in India, but when the world's best paragliders fold their parachutes to check-in for a flight to the World Cup in India, it surely will make heads turn.
In a fortnight's time, the Dhualadhar mountain ranges will have those specks of striking colours moving through them in the backdrop of a blue sky at Bir Billing - one of the most preferred paragliding sites in the world.
India is set to host the 2015 Paragliding World Cup from October 23 to 31.
The sport may not have a firm footing in terms of producing world-beating paragliders, but India is a known destination when it comes to hosting top-flight paragliding events, including the pre-World Cup that was held in 2013. And when the world's best come over to grace the Indian skies, it surely will give impetus to the sport's popularity in India.
From 2004, India have hosted a number of paragliding events - at the picturous meadows of Bir Billing in the state of Himachal Pradesh, so much so that even the world record of an out-and-return flight of 132.5 km was set here in 1992. Not without reason Bir Billing has been voted the second best flying site in the world.
That leaves little doubt why the 2015 Paragliding World Cup decided to spread its wings at Bir Billing.
