Surat: Air India authorities are satisfied with the response of Surti travellers to the operation of Airbus 320 between Delhi and Surat. Air India (AI) had launched its Airbus 320 evening service between Delhi and Surat on October 1. An average of 200 passengers travelled to and fro between Delhi and Surat daily from October 1 to 7. In a week, around 1,400 passengers travelled in the Airbus, sources said.
The service was started after Air India received a guarantee from Navsari MP CR Paatil and his loyalists from the textile industry worth Rs 3 crore.
Based on the agreement, the Air India had fixed the one-way fare at Rs 4,500 for the first 118 seats in its 168-seater aircraft. The remaining 50 seats was agreed to be sold by the Air India at its will.
