Taxi travel to airport will burn a hole in your pocket

New Delhi: The next time you take a taxi to and from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), be ready to shell out an extra charge. The airport's operator, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) is set to impose an entry fee for all commercial vehicles. According to DIAL, the step will enhance passenger safety by keeping a check on touts.
According to the new rule, every commercial vehicle, including taxis, cabs, etc that enter the arrival forecourt will have to pay an entry fee.
The fee would be applicable even if the vehicle has not stopped the car for the prescribed 90-second halt. "Staff will be deployed to collect Rs 150 as entry fee from all commercial vehicles entering the arrival area. This is mandatory for all commercial vehicles and will be applicable from October 2015," a DIAL official told Mail Today on condition of anonymity.
