Chennai: Heavy rains and floods for the fifth day in Chennai had brought the city to a standstill delaying around 26 flights, domestic and international.
Authorities are still not sure when will be the flight scheduled again as the rains had disrupted flight works at the runway. The Air Avaitaion Safety Authority of Chennai are also in touch with the weather department for further action.
Most of the passengers have been kept waiting at the airport and some were accomodated to hotels near Chennai airport.
The rains resulted in 48 deaths in last 24 hours, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced 4 lakh each compensation for the families of victims.
