Centre gives nod to develop T airports

Hyderabad:  The Union civil aviation ministry has in principle agreed to develop old air strips in Warangal and Nizamabad. The state will also take up work on an airport at Kothagudem.

This was stated by roads and buildings (R&B) minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao at a review meeting on airports, dry ports, national highways and water ways here on Tuesday. The minister said that the government had decided to set up airports in Adilabad, Warangal, Nizamabad and Kothagudem. Central government agency RITES, which was engaged to study the feasibility of airports, had submitted its report. The government is now in the process of identifying land required.
He said that the Union defence ministry urged the state government to allow it to use the airstrip in Adilabad and the proposal is under consideration.
