India chopper crash search continues

The search continues for two helicopter pilots that are missing after their craft crashed into the sea off India on Wednesday shortly after taking off from an Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) platform.
Debris from the Pawan Hans-owned chopper, which was on a training flight as opposed to an operational flight, has been located

The craft took off from one of the platforms in the south field of the Mumbai High area offshore western India just after 7pm local time, crashing just 10 minutes later about 160 kilometres from shore.

“It happened during a night sortie with two pilots on board, who are required to complete their mandatory hours as per DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation) requirement to maintain the validity of licence for night flying,” ONGC said.
