Chennai: Fifteen flights that were scheduled to depart from the Chennai airport were delayed as the city witnessed yet another rainy morning today.
As the Chennai Meteorological Centre registered a rainfall of 55.7 mm, 15 flights including the ones scheduled to leave for Madurai, Goa, Kolkata and Pune were delayed.
A Coimbatore-bound flight, which left today at 6.30 am, returned to Chennai airport as the weather condition was not suitable for landing in Coimbatore. The flight again left for the industrial city at 9.50 am.
Srilankan Airline carrying 67 passengers from Colombo and Qatar Airline flight carrying 294 passengers from Dubai were diverted to Bengaluru as the conditions were not favourable for landing here. Both flights reached Chennai after the weather cleared.
