Airlines relax ticketing rules for Chennai

Mumbai: Air India on Thursday evening operated a special flight from Hyderabad to Arakkonam Naval Base, near Chennai to evacuate passengers stranded in Tamil Nadu following the torrential rains that have battered the state in the last few days.
The national carrier also announced that it would honour and accept tickets issued by Air India, travel agents or portals, from or to Chennai for travel from or to nearest airports like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Vishakhapatnam, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Kochi, Vijayawada and Tirupati till December 15 without any additional charge. Cancellation or refund charges for travel to or from Chennai have been waived off till December 15.
Indigo Airlines meanwhile notified its passengers, their families and other local partners that all its flights operating to and from Chennai have been cancelled till December 5. An IndiGo spokesperson told Mumbai Mirror that the carrier will operate additional flights to Bangalore on December 4, to accommodate passengers coming from Chennai thru surface transport.
Jet Airways said that its guests with confirmed tickets to and from Chennai between December 1 and 8 would be allowed full refund or complimentary change of booking to alternative dates, depending on seat availability.
