HAL prods GoAir, Indigo to commence air service at Ozar

NASHIK: In response to airline operators GoAir and Indigo's request for emergency landing or diversion of flights at Ozar airport, the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has asked them to commence their air services from the terminal as well.

The company has also assured the airlines of providing cargo with full capacity. GoAir and Indigo have put forth proposals to HAL for diversion of flights as an alternative to Mumbai airport, but HAL has offered them to start air service from here instead of just diversion of flights or emergency landing.

The hurdle for commencing air service from Ozar airport, near Nashik, has already been cleared with the airport being brought on the en-route map of the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) of the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). HAL is also in the process of appointing a private agency or a firm to operate, develop, manage and maintain the airport on revenue sharing basis. The private firm appointed to operate the terminal will have to develop air services from here.
