Kochi Airport Awaits a Paris Recognition

Kochi: The God’s Own Country is eagerly awaiting whether its first public-private-partnership airport venture - Cochin Airport-  will be a talking point at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change’s (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP-21), Paris, in the coming days.

The solar project of the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), which brought the recognition of the first solar powered airport in the world to the state, will be presented in Paris by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address.

The story on Kochi’s solar airport also got the record score on streaming video views on the BBC online last week with 2,38,000 people watching the video online after a news in this regard appeared, the BBC confirmed.

Speaking to Express, V J Kurien, managing director of  CIAL, said he was invited by the office of the prime minister to deliver a brief talk on the CIAL’s project at the summit.

However, he couldn’t accept the invitation following the hectic schedule of tasks in connection with the Assembly session which began on Monday. “We have sent a video presentation to the union civil aviation ministry for this purpose,” Kurien added.
