Noida: TOI has accessed the letter written by UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to Prime minister of India Narendra Modi on proposed international airports in Uttar Pradesh. The letter was written on November 18, this year. The letter clearly reflects that issue of international airport in Western UP has become political issue. Instead of working together to develop international airport to encourage investment, jobs, both Centre and state is engaged in war of words.
It is pertinent to mention that junior aviation minister on Sunday had told TOI that aviation ministry has not received any proposal or letter from UP government.
In the letter, the UP CM apart from Jewar airport has pushed for airport near Agra to encourage international tourism. He requested the PM to intervene into the matter and settle the issues to encourage tourism.
The letter to PM by UP CM cites that there is an international site is proposed in Jewar in Greater Noida on PPP model. "For the proposed site in Jewar all necessary clearances have been obtained. In this connection, UP chief secretary, on June 10, 2010 had explained the details of the project to civil aviation ministry secretary. The state government wishes to develop international airport in Jewar," the letter reads.
