Hyderabad: From showcasing cutting edge, game changing products and solutions to serving as a forum for Telangana government to woo investors, day-two of the Defence & Aerosupply 2015 Conclave in the city had much to offer.
Making most of the opportunity, Industries Secretary Arvind Kumar counted availability of 1.45 lakh acres classified for industrial use, measures to ramp up the power supply, initiatives to improve ease of doing business and provision of ready infrastructure among the plus points of the State government. The three-day event, being organised by Kenes Exhibitions and Telangana government, is in its second edition and has got representation from 12 countries.
More specifically, Telangana is working on three proposals — to set up an Aero Skills Academy with Aerocampus Aquitaine of France; an incubation facility for companies in the field of aerospace in collaboration with IIT-Hyderabad; and one more, the 3rd aerospace park near Hyderabad.
These proposals are aimed at making Hyderabad a hub for defence and aerospace industry in India, he told a session on ‘Telangana - destination for the aerospace Industry, which was addressed by the Advisor to the State government B.V.Papa Rao. The State government, which had last month entered into an MoU with Bordeaux Metropolis (France) for strengthening economic ties, especially in aeronautical engineering, bio-technology and IT, is looking to meet the demand of skilled manpower for the high-precision industry through the Academy. Aerocampus Aquitaine is from Bordeaux.
