Kozhikode: The ground-breaking ceremony for the proposed international arrival terminal at the Karipur Airport to be set up at a cost of Rs 85.18 crore was held on Monday.
The bhoomi pooja for the new terminal spread across an area of 17000 sq. metre was performed by Airport Director K Janardhanan.
He said that the constructon of the spacious arrival terminal would help the airport comply with the international norms to provide atleast 27 sq. metre of space for each passenger.
Once the new arrival terminal building is commissioned, the present arrival and departure terminals of the airport will be converted into a single terminal for departures. Also the facilities at the departure terminal will also be upgraded under the project.
The new terminal is expected to reduce the existing congestion at the airport during peak hours.
