Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday asked AAI and DGCA to submit a reply on steps taken by them to restore suspension of Dumna airport's licence and clearing deficiencies.
Jabalpur bench ordered that top aviation authorities would be summoned for personal appearance if they failed to submit a satisfactory reply on the matter. Next hearing has been scheduled for January 6.
District-based NGO, Nagrik Upbhokta Margdarshak Manch, had filed an interim application (IA) before the court against the suspension of airport's licence.
The application was in a petition filed by Sudhir Chandra Datt vs The Union of India & Ors (2011) for construction of part of road between Jabalpur township and Dumna airport, night landing facility and extension of runway.
Petitioner Dr P G Nagpande has prayed for detailed investigations into the SpiceJet accident through an independent agency to ascertain the actual cause. Also, he has sought directions from the authorities of ministry of civil aviation for removal of deficiencies at the airport at the earliest and to restore operations and maintain air connectivity with Jabalpur.
