Tiruchi: Embalmed in a coffin, the body of a 30-year-old man arrived at the airport on the Christmas day from Kuwait. The victim, a resident of Kumbakonam, is said to have died in a road accident in the West Asian nation. The mortal remains landed in Tiruchi via Colombo by a Sri Lankan Airlines flight.
It was yet another case in the long list of arrival of bodies from different overseas destinations to Tiruchi airport during the current fiscal.
Airport sources say over 175 dead bodies had arrived at the airport from various foreign countries from April this year. The victims hailed from central and southern districts. They had gone to South East Asia and West Asian region in search of greener pastures from their home towns.
On an average, the airport witnesses arrival of 20 bodies every month.
