Khattakar Kalan (Nawanshahr): As Punjab Youth Congress workers started a five day Padyatra (procession on foot) from village Khattkar Kalan to Chandigarh to demand naming of Chandigarh airport after martyr Bhagat Singh, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Captain Amarinder Singh reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi of supreme sacrifice by Bhagat Singh and urged him to name the Chandigarh international airport after him. The Youth Congress workers would walk for around 115 kms to highlight their demand.
"It is unfortunate that the youth Congress workers have to struggle to get the airport named after the great martyr, which should otherwise have been done in normal course", he said while flagging off the Padyatra.
He regretted that the BJP governments at the centre and in Haryana were giving preference to one of their leaders Mangal Sein, who had just been an MLA in Haryana over Bhagat Singh, who had given his life at the age of 23 for the freedom of the country.
