Wildlife warden demands drones for PTR surveillance

Daltonganj: The chief wildlife warden has written to the civil aviation department asking for three drones for the surveillance of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR). Sources said each drone will come at a cost of Rs 7 lakh and the government has approved and sanctioned the proposal. The surveillance set up will be further strengthened with night vision cameras, state of the art communication system, CCTV cameras and monitor. The whole surveillance exercise will cost more than 67 lakhs.
DFO Core of the PTR Anil Kumar Mishra confirmed that the chief wildlife warden has written to the civil aviation department for the three drones to check wildlife crime. Mishra said, "Poaching of deer is common. Poachers lay snare trap near the water bodies to entrap deer."
