Mumbai: After filing an FIR against Mumbai airport officials for alleged lapses in security measures while constructing the multi-storey car park at the T2, activist Vishwas Bhamburkar has moved the Bombay High Court requesting the parking lot be sealed.
Mr Bhamburkar had earlier approached the Sahar police seeking an FIR against chairman GV Sanjay Reddy, CEO of Mumbai International Airport Private Limited Rajeev Jain, the then Regional Executive Director of Western Region AK Sharma, General Manager of Air Traffic Control Jayant Dasgupta, GM (Aero), Western Region, Airports Authority of India VSP Chinson, and Senior DCOS of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security BS Tripathi.
He had, in his complaint, contended that operations at the parking lot of the T2 terminal were started without a security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
When the Sahar police did not register an FIR, Mr Bhamburkar approached the metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri, and the court on Febriuary 12 issued orders to the Sahar police to register an FIR in the matter, which was registered the same night.
On Monday, Mr Bhamburkar filed a Criminal Public Interest Litigation with the Bombay HC seeking that the parking lot be sealed due to its vulnerability, which arises due to lack of adherence to security norms.
