Compat stays CCI's Rs 151-crore fine on Jet Airways

New Delhi: Competition Appellate Tribunal today stayed CCI's penalty of Rs 151.69 crore imposed on Jet AirwaysBSE -0.63 % for alleged cartelisation in fixing fuel surcharge on air cargo.

The tribunal's decision follows an appeal filed by the airline against the CCI order passed in November 2015.

Competition Commission of India (CCI) had slapped a total fine of Rs 258 crore on three carriers, including Jet Airways.
The penalties on the two others -- IndiGo and SpiceJet-- were stayed by the tribunal on February 9.
Staying CCI's impugned order on Jet's appeal, the tribunal said it would hear the matter on March 9.

"It is made clear that if the appellants fail to serve the notice on either of the respondents, the interim order passed today shall stand automatically vacated," Compat said.
