The farmers in Krishna district protested against the AP government for releasing the notification on Sunday for expansion of Gannavaram airport for which 1230 acres from 11 villages are being acquired. The farmers expressed their anguish to the officials for fixing compensation rates in a different manner for each village even though the geographical location is same.
Demanding the government to settle compensation that would be acceptable to all villages, the farmers stated that they would not part with their lands if suitable compensation is not provided to them. Responding to the protests, Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi said that he would discuss the concerns of the farmers with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
