Land Pooling for Gannavaram Airport Expansion

Vijayawada: As the things are slowly settling down in the capital city, the state government has switched gears and expanded the wings of the controversial Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) to Gannavaram airport area. The government has decided to take over nearly 1230 acres of land for airport expansion through LPS.
All the farmers, who will be ready to part their land, will get developed plots in the capital city area, Amaravati. The government rolled out the scheme to airport area as it would not require any monies to take over land. The government might have to spare about 307 acres of land for allocation as compensation to the oustees in Amaravati city.
Since there is no riverbank area in Gannavaram, LPS compensation has been fixed on par with the dry lands of the Capital City area. While the patta, endowment, waqk land owners will get 1000sft of residential and 200 sft of commerical developed plots in capital city area, the assigned land owners would get 800sft and 200 sft respectively.
Annual lease compensation of Rs.50000 would be paid for 10 years. All the local agriculture labourers would get social security pension of Rs 2500 per month. "Land Pooling Ownership Certificate (LPOC) will be given to the farmers who gave their consent to LPC within nine months of the scheme came into force," said Nuzvid sub-collector G Lakshmisha, who is competent authority for LPS in Gananvaram area. He said that one-time settlement of agriculture loan up to Rs.1.5 lakh would also be implemented.
