Mysuru: Stakeholders from the chamber of commerce, industry, hospitality and tourism sector will meet various players in the aviation sector in a renewed effort seeking restoration of air connectivity to Mysuru.
A “pressure group” has been constituted to influence policymakers and airline operators demanding flight operations based on data pertaining to air passenger traffic originating from Mysuru. This was decided at a stakeholders’ meet at Mysuru airport on Thursday in which nearly 50 representatives from the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, FKCCI, Builders Association of India, Mysore Industries Association, Hotel Owners Association, CREDAI, Granite Traders Association, representatives of industries from Kadakola, and KASSIA participated.
Though Mysuru airport was upgraded and inaugurated in 2010, connectivity was irregular with three operators terminating services during the last six years. At present, there are no commercial flights from Mysuru. The opinion aired by stakeholders was that the city’s growth was impeded due to lack of air connectivity and fresh investments were slow to come by as investors dreaded the 5-hour travel from Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, to Mysuru.
