After plane, state to buy Rs. 25cr chopper for VVIPs

Civil aviation department has proposed that a new helicopter be purchased for the state's VVIPs. Rs 25 crore has been allocated for the chopper in the state budget.
The proposal comes at a time when the Gujarat government is in the final stages of placing an order for a new aircraft for VVIPs and CM Anandiben Patel which will cost the state exchequ er between Rs150 crore and Rs190 crore.
Regarding the proposal to buy a new chopper, a senior official said the helicopter the state government has at the moment is seven years old and needs to be replaced at the earliest. It is still in use though it is not considered safe as it has outlived its lifespan.
