Agencies need to be alert at airport against drug mules: Pinheiro

Panaji: A senior officer of the customs and central excise, on Tuesday, said that Nigerian drug syndicate is using drug mules and, therefore, enforcement agencies at the airport need to be vigilant.
Albert Pinheiro, assistant commissioner of Customs and Central Excise, Mumbai, was speaking at a daylong session on drug trafficking menace and the steps to be initiated in this regard.
The session was especially held in order to address the issue of drug transport via air route. Officials from various agencies such as Goa police, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Customs, Directorate of Health Services, which are a part of the anti-narcotic task force, were present. The session was organised by the Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the Goa police along with customs officials at Gazetted officer’s mess, Altinho-Panaji.
