More fire tenders sought for Gaya airport

Gaya: Gaya airport authorities have requisitioned for additional fire tenders from the fire service station of the town to meet any eventuality.
The move has been initiated keeping last year's incident in view in which fire balls were thrown inside the airport area by Holi revellers of adjoining villages. The fire balls, it may be mentioned, had caused huge bush fire which continued for days leading to flight disruptions and severe security risk.
Confirming the requisition of additional fire tenders for Holi, airport director Dilip Kumar said two fire tenders stationed at the airport are heavy duty tenders with limited mobility and as such additional fire tenders have been requisitioned. Kumar also said OTA officials have also been alerted against any exigency.
Leaves of airport firemen have been cancelled and round-the-clock vigil is being maintained, added the airport official. Officers' Training Academy of the Indian Army located in the airport vicinity have also been requested to keep their fire tenders ready to rush help at short notice in case of emergency.
