Air India passengers stranded in Hyderabad

Passengers of an Air India flight from Dubai to Vishakhapatnam via Hyderabad were put to severe inconvenience at the Rajiv Gandhi Inter-national Airport at Shamshabad here.

The flight developed a technical snag after landing at Hyderabad and could not take off for Vizag in the morning. There were 55 passengers bound for Vizag. While some of them were provided taxis, others waited for a flight to be arranged after 4 pm.

Mr V. Vasu, one of the passengers on the aircraft complained that they were asked to get down from the aircraft at RGIA and were not given any reason for it. “There were senior citizens and women among us. There was no senior officer from Air India to talk to us as they were attending some aviation conference at Begumpet. Every one of us got delayed,” he said.

Mr Vasu said he came from Dubai for the naming ceremony of his daughter at Vizag on Friday. “I wanted to be with my family a day in advance, but got struck in Hyderabad,” he said.
