Fire scare in airport premises, probe ordered

Fire broke out in the dry grass in the outer area of the airport's operational premises at around 4:45pm on Wednesday.
Sources said that the fire broke out in around 50 m area between the air traffic control (ATC) tower and the project office building. The fire tenders at the airport were immediately pressed into service and it took about 30 minutes to douse the blaze.
Talking to TOI, airport director, Pramod Kumar Thakre said, "An inquiry has been ordered to find out the cause of the fire. Most of the area inside the operational premises has been cleared of grass and bushes, there is still some dry grass in the outer area. It seems that somebody might have thrown a burning cigarette or match stick."
