Hi-tech kiosks to reduce flight boarding time

New Delhi: The flight boarding time for flyers is set to get shorter with the help of a new technology called 'Document Exchange Kiosks'. A passenger will just need to flash the ticket's barcode at the kiosk to get the boarding pass.
Interacting with TOI, DIAL CEO, I Prabhakar Rao said that introduction of such innovative technologies and a "care for passenger" approach is what has helped IGI airport to be ranked first by the Airports Council International among 300 airports across the globe.
The new system has been on trial for the past few months at Terminal 1D and will soon be started at the international terminal T3 soon. Rao said that passengers will not need to stand in long queues during peak hours and festive seasons. This initiative will also help avoid crowding of the terminals.
"We have received a good response from passengers. Currently it is being run with the help of IndiGo. Other airlines will be roped in soon after the number of kiosks are increased," Rao said.
