Runway renovation upsets flight schedules

If you are planning to take a flight from the city between April and October this year, then do check the schedule before booking your tickets. The only runway of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel international airport is set to go under renovation from April 16. As a consequence, almost all the airlines will be temporarily suspending or shutting their services from Ahmedabad. Traffic in Vadodara airport may increase as some flights might be shifted there.
Indigo is set to suspend seven flights (14 services) while Jet Airways will be suspending four flights (eight services) from April 16, 2016 to October 29, 2016. Other airlines will announce the changes in their schedules soon.
Indigo and Jet Airways have submitted their plans to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for summer schedule in wake of renovation work at city airport, which is expected to go on for one whole year.
Around 15 flights (30 services) operating in and out of city airport between 10 am and 6pm will be rescheduled once the work begins on the runway .
Indigo will suspend one flight each to Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Indore and Kolkata. However, the airline will move two flights on Bangalore and Goa route to Vadodara airport on a temporary basis. Other airlines too are planning to utilize the Vadodara airport facility due to its proximity to Ahmedabad.
