Smuggler nabbed with hash taped to his body

Mumbai: Luck ran out for an Italian smuggler after a Jet Airways staffer caught him trying to sneak hashish into a flight to Brussels. Di Martina Fabio, who had managed to clear the primary screening, was caught during a pat-down search.
Fabio was then handed over to the Air Intelligence Unit and charged under the NDPS Act, 1985.
The incident occurred at 10 pm on Sunday, when Fabio was about to board Jet Airways flight 9W 228. During the secondary ladder point check, Jet staffer Vikrant Patil found red packets of hashish taped to Fabio’s forearms, biceps and abdomen. The seized contraband weighed 418 grams. Fabio was on his way to Rome via Brussels. “The packets were cleverly concealed under his garments, wrapped in polythene and stuck on his body using cellotape,” said a Customs officer.
