Customs authorities have arrested a 35-year-old woman on charges of trying to smuggle in Rs 2 crore worth of gold into the city from Kuala Lumpur.
Police said Sinduja arrived in the city early on Friday morning and customs authorities singled her out based on a tip.
On checking her baggage, the officials found 65 gold bars weighing.
Sinduja told the police that she hailed form Andh ra Pradesh and was sent to Malaysia on a visitor visa and promised ` 25, 000 to carry the contraband. She said a man in Kuala Lumpur had given her the gold and advised her to act normally in the airport.
