Night landing facility restored at Gaya airport

Gaya: After nearly seven-week long suspension, night landing facilities were restored at the Gaya International Airport on Sunday. The facility was suspended following the theft of devices like control panel, solar plate and battery installed at Ramshila hill. Such devices have been put in place at five different points on the hilltops around the town.
The devices, installed at pre identified obstruction points, are required for special lighting arrangement to facilitate safe landing during night hours. The devices were stolen on April 5.
Confirming the replacement of the stolen devices and restoration of night landing facility, Gaya airport director Dilip Kumar said special arrangements were needed to protect the devices which were stolen several times in the past. Though home guards are specially deputed at hilltops to protect the devices, incidents of theft have taken place.
