AAI ropes in BCG to improve facilites at Chennai airport

Chennai: Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management consulting firm, has been roped in by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to improve facilities and services at the Chennai airport.

According to AAI officials, the BCG team made a presentation to the authorities recently.

The firm will help the authorities implement strategies to solve various maintenance issues plaguing the airport for a long time, and that too even after modernisation.

“The BCG team will look at the contracts too and give suggestions. We hope this will help in resolving the issues soon,” an official said.

Ever since the new terminals constructed as part of the Chennai airport modernisation were opened to public, passengers have complained about lack of maintenance of toilets, collapse of glass panels and false ceiling among other issues. The AAI came up with the idea of appointing a management consultant after Minister of Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathy Raju ordered inspection of the airport by top authorities from the department.
