Chennai: Security personnel on duty at Bengaluru airport on Sunday apologised to music composer Ilaiyaraaja after he was agitated when they insisted on checking the temple ‘prasadam’ he was carrying in his hand baggage.
The composer had reached Bengaluru from Mangaluru and was about to board a flight to Chennai. “Even before checking the baggage, we informed security men that we were carrying the temple ‘prasadam,’ including a coconut. The coconut was broken into two, but that did not stop the security men, who were checking it with a hand-held bomb detection machine,” said Karthik Raja, the composer’s elder son.
However, noticing the security check on CCTV camera, a senior officer came and apologised, he said, adding that the issue was then finally sorted out.
