Chennai: Legendary music composer Ilayaraja had a scuffle at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Sunday after he was allegedly denied entry with 'prasad', a TV journalist who was witness to the incident said.
Ilayaraja, his son Karthik Raja and other family members, after visiting a few temples in Mangaluru, were at the airport for the flight home when a security officer manning the scanning machine stopped them. "The scanner picked up broken pieces of coconut in the bag and the officer asked the family members to step aside for further checking. He did not seem to know who Ilayaraja was," said Lakshman Bandlamudi, a creative head in a TV channel who was prsent on the spot. When Karthik Raja took photos of the security officer, he got angrier and started talking rudely, said Bandlamudi. "The officer ensured the photos were deleted. The argument went on continuously. I stepped in and told the officers that the person was a legendary music composer with several national awards," said Bandlamudi.
Ilayaraja and his family members finally let off after an hour of arguing. The last call for the flight was at 10.30pm and the composer was at the security check till 10.45pm.
