IGI staffer caught stealing

New Delhi: On Saturday morning, an Iraqi woman approached the security personnel at Indira Gandhi International Airport to report the theft of some valuables during check-in. Fortunately for her, the Central Industrial Security Force found CCTV footage showing a person removing, among other things, cash and cell phone from the woman's luggage at the Baggage Hold Area.
"The thief, identified as Kewal Singh, disclosed during interrogation that after stealing the items he was to hand them over to ground handlers who would take them out of the terminal," said Dinesh Kumar Gupta, DCP (IGI). "We are making efforts to trace the others involved."
Many incidents of this sort have been reported recently from the airport. Police and CISF officers believe that teams comprising loaders, airline staff and ground staff deployed near the security check areas work in tandem with the house-keeping staff in these nefarious operations.
