Madhani to reach Kochi by night, tension in Nedumbassery

Kochi:  PDP chairman Abdul Nazar Madhani, arrested and jailed in the Bengaluru blast case, will reach Kerala today itself. He will board the Indigo flight leaving Bengaluru at 7.15 pm and will reach Nedumbassery by 8.30 pm. From there he will go to Anwarsseri in Kollam by road.

He is reaching Kerala after Supreme Court gave him permission to visit his ailing mother. Madhani’s wife Sufiya, PDP state general secretary Muhammed Rajeeb and his aides are also accompanying him.

He was scheduled to reach Kerala by 12.55 pm in the Indigo flight. He reached Bengaluru Airport at 10 am to board the flight. However, after issuing the boarding pass, the officials of Indigo Airlines refused to carry him at the last minute.  However, Indigo Airlines was of the stand that a special permissions is needed from the aviation ministry if Madhani, who is facing trial, should be carried in the flight. Though those with him contacted the airline authorities, the flight left without carrying him. The flight left almost twenty minutes late.

When PDP activists came to know that the flight left without Madhani, they protested in Nedumbassery by shouting slogans. They besieged the office of the airlines in the airport and smashed the window panes.
