Pathanamthitta: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government is for constructing an airport or airstrip at a suitable site in Pathanamthitta, Aranmula MLA Veena George has said.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Ms. George also clarified that the government would not permit any airport or airstrip at the environmentally sensitive Aranmula puncha.
She said the government would explore the possibility of setting up an airstrip somewhere else in the district. The MLA said steps would be taken soon to withdraw the controversial notification issued by the previous government declaring Aranmula and surrounding areas as an industrial area. It was also very much a part of the election manifesto of the LDF, she said.
