Kochi: In view of an indefinite strike called by a section of the ground handling staff from Monday at the Cochin International Airport, the contractor, Khullar Hospitality (KHPL), has sent a five-point request to the airport authorities to ensure security and avoid harassment of passengers.
A statement issued by the contractor said the strike was illegal and that all efforts would be made to ensure that work went on unhindered.
In a letter, the KHPL requested the CIAL to provide help to ensure that employees were allowed to enter the airport to avoid any delay, disruption or inconvenience to passengers, the press release quoted Karan Diwan, General Manager of KHPL. The KHPL described the strike as “pointless as all issues had been resolved during previous discussions.”
