Thiruvananthapuram: Chennai-based transport planner N.S. Sreenivasan has been roped in by the State government to provide hassle-free connectivity to the Thiruvananthapuram international airport from the National Highway-66 bypass that is being widened.
Mr. Sreenivasan, who is also the architect of the City Road Improvement Project (CRIP) and the founder-director of Natpac, will reach the city on Monday to inspect the road corridor and work out a solution.
He has been asked to come out with a solution that is acceptable both to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is executing the four-laning of the bypass, and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which manages the airport.
Dr. Sreenivasan will meet the stakeholders before submitting the report to the government. He will also give his opinion on the demolition of the 430-metre ramp, constructed by the State without nod from the NHAI, to offer connectivity from the bypass to the terminal 2 of the airport.
The government has selected Dr. Sreenivasan as the NHAI and the AAI have failed to arrive at a consensus on the design for the connectivity to the airport.
